thank you ny now
Thank you for another wonderful show, NY NOW. So nice to catch up with repeat customers. I am grateful for all the re-orders and for the new (very exciting) accounts. More on those later. And once again, my neighbors make the five days super fun. Always an inspiration to be surrounded by such talented, kind, and supportive individuals.
this season I have been focusing on form and color. moody grays mixed in with soft garden-inspired colors.

NY NOW show, winter 2015
A big thank you to the NY NOW show and to the retailers who braved freezing temperatures and rainy snowy icy slushy streets of NYC. It was another fun and informative show with many reunions, and new friendships formed.
I introduced new double-dipped glaze combos, to overall enthusiasm. I love when the two glazes overlap, an unexpected third color forms. I am looking forward to exploring this direction further.

A big storm put a bit of a damper on the NY Gift Fair, but I still had a wonderful time, and met great people. My neighbors at the fair kept my spirits up, and the five days flew by, even though retailer traffic was somewhat slow. Gleena was picked up by stores in Pittsburgh, Seattle, Chicago, and Canada, to name just a few new locations. I’m excited to get the collections out to them. Thank you for all your support. Your feedback is what encourages me to keep on showing my work.

To figure out what pieces I need for the NY Gift Fair, I set up a mock booth in my studio. I like organizing by color, and it seems to make sense for my work. I have many different images that I work with, and the color holds it all together. The missing pieces are coming out of the kiln on Thursday, the day I leave for NYC. I always have to work until the very last minute. I’ve been like that since high school, writing my senior thesis until dawn of the day it was due.
thoughts on ny gift fair
I went to the NY Gift Fair feeling like a kid on her first day of school: nervous, excited, a little scared. The first thing that greeted me when I emerged in the new beautiful northern wing of the Javits was my booth. It was right up front. I immediately felt lucky, and my nervousness abated. The show’s organizers were amazing, giving extra press to new exhibitors, for which I am extremely grateful.
Then I met my vendor neighbors, and I calmed down even more. I was surrounded by experienced, talented, and extremely nice artists, who make a living on their talents and are generous about sharing their knowledge. The five days flew by, some days were great selling days, some were a bit more quiet. I spoke to a number of wonderful buyers and press, who were very positive about my work. Many amazing stores across the country placed orders, and I am excited to share them with you as soon as the orders ship. It will take me until the end of October to get everything completed.
It's a really good feeling to put so much effort into something, and having it work out. I accomplished what I set out to do: take my ceramics to a broader audience. It's an exciting time, and I am so grateful for all your support and encouragement. Thank you!

My booth at the NY Gift Fair is 10 feet long, and 6 feet wide, just right for me. The new pavilion at the Javits Convention center is beautiful: light, airy, spacious. Feels good to be there.
Please note the fitted table cloths. A huge thank you to Cynthia Treen of The Thread Follower, who allowed me into her studio, onto her work tables and sewing machine. Without her guidance and advice I would not have been able to make them.
