still life saturday with john frederick peto
John Frederic Peto (1854-1907) was an American painter who never had a gallery exhibition. Peto made a living by playing cornet (an instrument very similar to the trumpet), taking in seasonal boarders, and selling his paintings to tourists in the resort town of Island Heights, New Jersey.
